The game week 7 of the FKF NSL was full of action and surprises. Fortune Sacco holds the top spot with 14 points, while Mombasa Stars find themselves at the bottom of the table with only 4 points, despite securing their first victory of the season. Mwatate United are yet to play their first match after being reinstated to the league. Here is how the weekend fixtures panned out.
Mombasa Stars 1 - 0 Kibera Black Stars
Mombasa Stars finally broke their NSL duck, securing a hard-fought win at Serani ground. The only goal came in the 24th minute of the match when Rodgers Okumu was fouled in the penalty area. Alfred Maningi put the ball on the left side of the net, sending Kibera Black Stars goalkeeper the wrong way..
The second half began with Kibera Stars pressing forward, making it a physical battle. Despite their persistent efforts, Mombasa Stars' resolute defense prevented them from scoring.
SS Assad 0 - 1 Kisumu all Stars
In another encounter played in the coast region, Kisumu All Stars shocked Assad in their own backyard, securing a 1-0 victory at Ukunda Showground. Steve's 40th-minute goal, assisted by Laban, sealed the deal for the visitors
The second half saw the hosts try to create goal scoring chances only that goals were not forthcoming. Due to the result, Assad dropped to 7th place with 10 points while the win pushed Kisumu All Stars to 15th place with 8 points.
MOFA 1-0 Luanda Villa
MOFA secured their third win of the season in a tightly contested match at Raila Odinga Stadium, Homabay. The only goal scored in the 26th minute by Lawrence Ouma was enough to sink Luanda Villa. The win puts MOFA 2nd on the standings with 12 points while Luanda Villa are 9th after 9 games.
Vihiga united 0-1 Fortune Sacco
Once again, Fortune Sacco continued their impressive performance, defeating Vihiga United 1-0 at Mumias Complex. The first half of the match was a goalless affair. Elias Mugane's goal in the 58th minute after the break won all the 3 points for Fortune Sacco. Vihiga united are now 8th with 9 points, while Fortune Sacco remained at the top of the table with 14 points.
Sam West Fc 2-0 3K Fc
Vapor grounds was full of entertainment in game week 7. The first half was tight with no goal to separate the two teams despite both teams striving to find the back of the net.
The crowd's beloved 3K FC suffered an early second half blow as Nehemiah Onchiri found the net in the 53rd minute. Just when it seemed the game was over, Sam West's dramatic 98th minute goal secured a thrilling 2-0 win.
3K FC dropped to 4th place with 11 points while Sam West moves up to 6th place with 11 points.
Nairobi United 5- 0 Mombasa United
The highest goal scoring match of game week 7 was played at Dandora stadium. Nairobi United went on to thrash the visitors 5-0. A rare NSL goal-fest unfolded in the first half, with Nairobi United scoring four goals. Issac Omweri netted twice (6th and 19th minutes), while Frank Ouya (8th minute) and Dancun Omala (25th minute) also found the back of the net.
In the 51st minute of the second half, Majaliwa Charo scored the final goal to make it 5 for the hosts. Mombasa United could not redeem themselves despite their efforts to find a consolation goal.
Naivas 1-2 APS Bomet
APS Bomet bounced back to winning ways after last week's setback against MCF. The deadlock was broken in the 40th minute when Erick Mwirithi headed in Phillip Wasai's corner kick. Bomet scored their second goal via a controversial penalty awarded in the 44th minute where Jimmy converted from the spot. Before the first half ended, Naivas were awarded a penalty in 45+4 minute, which Vincent Likare converted with much ease.
Muhoroni Youth 2-1 Darajani Gogo
A controversial match in Muhoroni saw the visiting team, Darajani Gogo, fall short. Gogo took the lead in the 18th minute, but Muhoroni equalized in added time of the first half and secured the win with a goal from Odhiambo in the 67th minute.
