“The toughest league in Kenya is back for a new season” as some football fans always claim. FKF National Super League, a second tier league in Kenya, will kick off this weekend on 21st September 2024  for 2024/25 season at various grounds. Coupled with lots of changes and requirements ranging from club licensing, coach badges, new teams on board ,new signings will be a great weekend to watch. A total of 20 teams battling it out for 3 chances to gain promotion to the prestigious FKF Premier League. This weekend 10 matches will go down.

Saturday matches

Naivas FC vs MOFA Fc Kenyatta Stadium | Machakos 1300hrs

Last season's second runners up Naivas Fc will be meeting newcomers MOFA Fc for the league opener. Having missed the opportunity of promotion by a whisk last season, the home side will position themselves as serious contenders for promotion early on. Meanwhile MOFA, making their debut in the league,  will strive to announce their arrival in the league and prove they are not just newcomers. 

APS Bomet FC VS Mombasa United FC Bomet Stadium | Bomet 1500hrs

These two sides are both new in the league, so this will be a battle of first timers. APS,  who have been eyeing for promotion for some years, will be out to make their NSL debut memorable given its a home match.  On their part, Mombasa United are eager to announce their presence and make a statement in their first match.

Nzoia Sugar vs Fortune Sacco FC Sudi Stadium | Bungoma 1500hrs

Nzoia Sugar was relegated from the top flight league after a disastrous season gaining only 22 points in 34 Matches. Fortune Sacco FC on the other end got promoted to the NSL after an impressive outing in division one league.This will be a battle between the experienced vs the freshmen.

Luanda Villa SC VS Kibera Black Stars  Mumboha Stadium | Luanda 1500hrs

This will be another exciting match to watch as both teams know each other from last season. Luanda Villa won 2-0 away and 3-1 home against Kibera Black stars. Surprisingly, both teams garnered 52 points in 38 matches with a goal difference of 11 goals breaking the tie.

Darajani Gogo VS Migori Youth FC KIHBT Grounds | Ngong 1500hrs

This match promises to be one of the most intriguing clashes of Game Week One. Both teams are eager to start the season with a win, setting the stage for a tightly contested encounter at KIHBT Grounds. Each team won 1-0 at home when the sides clashed last season.

Muhoroni Youth vs Dimba Patriots FC Muhoroni Stadium | Muhoroni 1500hrs

Muhoroni Youth had a poor run last season in the KPL and as a result got relegated to the NSL. Dimba Patriots had a fairly good season in the NSL . Muhuroni go into this match as favorites given they play at home. However, Dimba Patriots are known for their disciplined play and could frustrate their opponents.

Sunday Matches 

MCF fc VS Vihiga United Kenyatta Stadium | Machakos 1300hrs

In an early kick off, a high stake match awaits NSL fans. Vihiga United won twice, 2-1 in the first leg and 3-2 in the second round last season. The painful narrow defeats  may serve as a motivation for MCF to start this campaign with a positive note.

Samwest Blackboots FC VS  SS Assad FC  Vapor Grounds | Ngong 1500hrs

Samwest Blackboots, a new team in the league, will have a point to prove in their debut but SS Assad’s experience in the league could give them an edge. SS Assad, despite a tough outing last season, have now reincarnated their team with new signings ready for the battlefield. This clash between the ambitious newcomers and the retooled SS Assad promises to be an exciting contest.

Kisumu All stars FC vs 3K FC Moi Stadium | Kisumu 1500hrs

3K FC, fresh from their impressive promotion, will face a challenging road trip in their debut season. Kisumu All Stars,  who finished position 5 in the league last season, will be out to fight for topflight promotion. Playing in front of their home crowd, Kisumu All Stars will aim for nothing less than a win. 3K FC, however, have youthful energy that may prove to be an asset.

Mombasa Stars FC VS Nairobi United FC Serani Sports Club | Mombasa 1500hrs 

The coastal boys will welcome the Nairobi side in another tough outing for both teams. Last season, Nairobi United edged out a 2-1 win in the second leg after a goalless draw in the first leg, claiming three valuable points away from home. Mombasa Stars will be seeking revenge at home, but Nairobi United’s pace on the counter-attack could prove decisive.

As teams brace for the intense competition, game week one promises thrilling encounters as each club aims to make a statement early on, the stage is set for an action-packed season. Secondly, it will set the tone for the season, and as the teams take to the field, fans can expect plenty of drama, goals, and surprises.
