Full-time brought another wave of apathy and anger among K'ogallo fans. Frustration was evident across the board, from the stands to the players on the pitch and even within the coaching staff as Gor Mahia once again failed to secure a victory.
For Police Fc, the mood was rather different with second half substitute Alvine Mang’eni heading in the lone goal in the second half from a Kenenth Miguna’s corner to give the home side the much-needed victory
With the first half ending in a 0-0 standstill, Police FC decided to introduce fresh legs to the game with the addition of Alvin Mang’eni, Jackson Macharia, Alfred Leku and Erick Zakayo later.
Gor Mahia were trailing deep in the second half and the technical bench decided to make changes to the team. Bryson Wangai, Lawrence Juma and Musa Sharif were introduced to try and get an equalizer, but they were not enough to penetrate Musa Muhamed and Brian Okoth led defense. Rogers Ouma and Mark Shaban came in for the away side in the dying minutes of the game but despite the spirited fight there was nothing they could do to salvage the situation.
The home side made their last change of the game in added time with arguably the best player in the match, Keneth Miguna, coming off for Charles Ouma. The game ended 1-0 in favor of the home team
The loss now leaves the twenty-one times Kenya Premier League champions in position six in the FKF Premier League with 18 points, 2-points below their counterparts Police FC who are position four with 20 points. It will be interesting to see if the Green Army will change tactics in their next league game against Kariobangi Sharks.
