Kwale United are the Coast region Tujiamini Initiative by SportPesa champions after seeing off AIC Kongowea FC in the final. Earlier in the semifinal, a solitary goal from Kwale’s Meshack Wambua in the dying minutes of a tense encounter, was enough to eliminate Tiger FC and book a place in the final. As a prize for their efforts, Kwale United will receive KES 250,000 sponsorship to fund their training, equipment, and other expenses for the next three years.

Beyond financial assistance, the Tujiamini Initiative actively worked to uplift communities, particularly by mentoring and inspiring young people who are often exposed to negative influences.

After the final whistle, Kwale United coach Hamisi Masusa, said, “The Tujiamini Initiative has made great strides to uplift the youth in the Coast region, especially in a community struggling with high levels of drug and substance abuse. Despite existing opportunities for development, such as playing fields, many young people are deep-rooted in addiction. The collaboration between SportPesa and DBA Africa to launch this initiative has been a game-changer, offering a positive alternative and presenting the transformative potential of engaging in healthy, constructive activities."

Austin Mbogo, the Kwale United captain reiterated the sentiments stating, “With initiatives like Tujiamini, societal evils are bound to reduce significantly and more of such initiatives should be embraced regularly. Just as well, we are really thrilled to carry the day.”

SportPesa's PR and Advertising Manager, Willis Ojwang, recognized the significant impact of the Tujiamini initiative across different regions, emphasizing the high level of community involvement observed in the Coast Region.

Despite the sponsorship, I believe we have left an impact on the community’s youth who, instead of delving into otherwise destructive activities, chose to participate in the tournament wholeheartedly. Moving forward, we are presented with an opportunity to implement the learnings for an even better experience next time round,” said Ojwang’.

Winning the Tujiamini Gold Award is the best feeling ever and definitely a game-changer for me.
