Equity Football Club is experiencing a significant transformation, this season. The team playing in the FKF Division one, attributes much of its growth to the strategic use of data provided by Tisini Tech. Having finished in sixth place last season, the club is aiming for more this time round.

The partnership with Tisini Tech has been crucial for Equity FC. Coach Ray Omondi, who joined the club in 2023, emphasizes the importance of data in assessing player performance. “We analyze Tisini stats every five weeks to evaluate our progress and make necessary adjustments,” Ray explains.

The coaching staff continuously reviews performance data to identify areas for improvement, helping players understand where they excel and where they need to focus their efforts.

Equity FC’s progress so far is a product of rigorous preparation and strategic training. Ray and his team emphasize that detailed analysis of performance data is complemented by comprehensive training sessions.

We conduct thorough preparations and incorporate valuable data insights, which equips players with the tactics they need to excel on the field,” he shares.

This combination of analytics and practical training has led to marked improvements in player performance. By embracing the structured approach,  the coaching staff is able to set clear parameters for each player, fostering an environment where individual performance can be objectively measured and improved.

A Pathway to Professionalism

This improvement in Equity FC players has opened paths for them. Last season, Vincent Odabu joined Kenya Premier League side KCB, and Larry Okoth signed with Talanta, demonstrating the club’s commitment to player development.

Ray notes, “We are proud to see our players making it to professional leagues; it validates the work we put into their development.”

Nevertherless, while Equity FC thrives in many areas, mental health challenges among players pose significant hurdles.

Ray acknowledges, “The lack of mental support has been a huge setback. We are working to address this issue.”

The club’s management recognizes that maintaining a positive mental state is as crucial as physical training. Timely allowances and reduced stress levels have been vital in creating an environment where players can thrive.

The Journey Ahead

Despite a commendable achievement last season, the club fell short of its goal of winning the league.

“We expected to perform better, but drawing too many games held us back,” Ray reflects.

With only three points separating them from the top spot and a single loss in six matches, Equity FC has started the season well. They have a real shot at eclipsing last season's achievements and securing a coveted spot in the National Super League.

Equity FC's commitment to its players and strategic planning suggests a bright future in Kenyan football. As Ray Omondi suitably summarizes, “It’s been a good journey, and we’re excited about what lies ahead.”
