Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Division 2 Eastern Division League side Githurai All Stars (GAS) on Friday night invited their fans and football stakeholders to launch their new sponsorship lineup. At the Stima Club Nairobi, chairman Charles Njenga led in the unveiling of Co-operative Bank as the Pand Pieri-based side's main sponsor.
Co-op Bank was joined by Nila Pharmaceuticals, and SNL Lounge as the 3 main co-sponsors for the community club that’s currently flourishing.
Among those present at the event were senior officials from Co-operative Bank and Nila Pharmaceuticals, AFC Leopards chairman Dan Shikanda, FKF Nairobi East chairman Dickson Doyo, and other prominent figures in football administration. Local politicians were also present, as GAS celebrated yet another milestone.
The event comes on the back of a fruitful December. Githurai All Stars, were able to successfully defend the Sakaja Super Cup 2024 which they had won in 2023. Speakers, fans and even the players have promised that the next challenge is beyond the Sakaja Cup.
As the second half of the season begins, GAS have set their sites on promotion to Division One. They further went on to state that the club, which according to Njenga was formed in 2015, will soon be in the Nationwide Super League. In fact, Njenga went on to taunt that fellow community clubs like AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia, will soon know what Githurai All Stars is all about.
At the ceremony, the club unveiled new team match day jerseys and travelling kits. They now come with the new sponsors well displayed. Co-op takes the front space, Nila the back and SNL Lounge the sleeve.
GAS resumes its race for promotion with an away fixture against Blue Nile at Delmonte Ground in Thika on Sunday, February 2, 2025. Last year, they lost out in the playoffs to Strathmore. Currently, Githurai All Stars sit fifth with 10 points from four games, two points ahead of Blue Nile, who have played one more match.
